What's the difference with your lomilomi from others out there?

There are many different styles of lomilomi. With the arrival of the Western culture, the ancient Hawaiian ways were banned and lomilomi along with hula, la'au lapa'au(medicinal herbs), and lua was kept alive secretly within families. Lomilomi was hidden within different family groups and the styles were diverse. Each family preserved what was relevant and important to them. There is no one way to do lomilomi or a "correct way". There are many ways, and as practitioners we are all one and practice knowledge that has been passed down from generation to generation. My lomilomi genealogy is from Papa Kalua Kaiahua, the great healer from Maui to my teacher, Kumu Karen Leialoha Kaanehe Carroll. Lomilomi is not only a physical science it is a spiritual art. When I do lomilomi, I humbly ask my ancestors as well as the ancestors of the person on my table to help with the healing process. I have also been taught how to use seashells to help assist with clearing the body of blockages.

Will I feel anything when I receive Reiki or Pranic Healing?

Everyone experiences energy differently. Some will feel a tingling or buzzing sensation, others will feel temperature change of hot or cold, sleepiness or a burst of energy may also occur, while others may not feel anything at all. It is important to let the practitioner know if you are feeling light-headed, dizzy, experiencing nausea, or have increased pain during your session. These are common during a reiki or pranic healing session as the body is releasing as well as absorbing energy. Alerting the practitioner is helpful and can better assist in alleviating the occurence. The priority is for comfort and relaxation during the session.

What is Ho'oponopono?

Ho'oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian practice of reconcilliation and forgiveness which means "to make right". Ho'oponopono in ancient times was done by the priests (kahu) among family of a person who was physically ill.  It was believed that the illness was caused by the stress, anger, guilt, recriminations and lack of forgiveness. The practice involved extended family members meeting to make right broken family relations. It is believed that healing could only come with complete forgiveness of the whole family. The ho'oponopono that is experienced today focuses on taking 100% responsibility for every thought, action and effect in life and that cutting the aka cords (spiritual entanglements) to others and situations will help to bring internal(mental, emotional, spiritual) healing as well as physical healing.

A person with 'Opu Huli may have one or more of these symptoms: pain in the lower back, shortness of breath, difference in alignment of feet, indigestion and increased gas, pressure in the stomach, difficulty eating, colic (in babies), a tilted uterus causing menstrual cramps or infertility.
